Essex County Democrats Propose Changes to 2014 Ballot

The Democratic side of this November's ballot will look a little different this year as the Essex County Democratic Committee has shuffled things up, saying goodbye to some longtime officials and welcoming new candidates.

A release sent out by the committee on Tuesday lists U.S. Sen. Cory Booker at the top of the ballot, followed by House of Representatives candidates, including District 10 incumbent representing half of Montclair U.S. Rep. Donald Payne Jr., and District 11 candidate Mark S. Dunec, who will vie to supplant U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, a Republican, to represent the other half of Montclair.

The committee's list of sanctioned candidates reaffirms incumbent Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr., reveals first-term District 5 Freeholder and Montclair resident Brendan Gill seeks an at-large freeholder seat, and lists Bloomfield's Cynthia Toro as the party's choice to replace Gill in District 5, representing Montclair, Belleville, Bloomfield, Glen Ridge and Nutley.
