Township of Bloomfield
Bloomfield Township is a growing, suburban community offering an ideal environment in which families, as well as businesses, can grow and prosper. One of New Jersey’s more diverse municipalities (covering only 5.3 square miles and inhabiting nearly 47,000 residents), Bloomfield Township boasts an excellent public school system and first-rate recreational facilities including newly renovated parks and athletic fields. Bloomfield Township, with its beautiful tree lined neighborhoods, is known for our “Bloomfield Green Historic District, Gateway to the Jersey's other nearby communities,” and is less than a half hour away from New York City.
Glen Ridge Borough
Glen Ridge is a residential community of about 7,000 people. There are 2,200 houses in its 1.5 square miles which are bounded by Bloomfield, Montclair, Orange and East Orange. Of the many legacies left to the town by the founders, the one that has become its trademark is the gaslight. With only 3,000 gaslights remaining in operation in the entire United States. Glen Ridge has 666 lamps lighting its streets.
Township of Belleville
Belleville, the Cherry Blossom Capital of America, gets its name from the French words belle - meaning beautiful, and ville - meaning town. Belleville sits on the west bank of the Passaic River in Essex County. The relationship between the town and the river hints of the great changes that Belleville has experienced during its 300-year history. Originally known as "Second River" or "Washington", the inhabitants renamed the settlement "Belleville" in 1797. Belleville was originally incorporated as a township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 8, 1839, from portions of Bloomfield. Portions of the township were taken to create Woodside Township (now defunct) and Franklin Township, which is present-day Nutley.
Township of Nutley
The Township of Nutley is located in the Northern quadrant of Essex County and enjoys a unique picturesque suburban existence in close proximity to New York City. It is conveniently located near the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, Route 3 and Route 21. Even with a population of approximately 27,000, this bedroom community enjoys a small town ambience throughout its quiet, well-maintained tree lined streets.
Montclair Township
Montclair is a community of about 39, 000 inhabitants. Never content to be merely a "bedroom community," Montclair is nevertheless a family-centered town. Its heritage in education has been enhanced by its innovative public and private school educational programs and the expanded offerings at Montclair State University. Once again our hillside has become a haven for artists and writers. This is a seasoned community whose many old houses enhance its charm, yet at the dawn of a new century, Montclair remains alive to the spirit of the times.
